Flooding: seven counties are under a state of emergency for 60 days
Posted: November 4th, 2026
Governor Ron DeSantis signed Executive Order 26-227 on November 2 after heavy rain from October 31 through November 2. The order covers Brevard, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Indian River, Martin, and St. Lucie counties. News reports say it lasts 60 days unless it is extended.
A state of emergency is not the same thing as a check in the mail. It lets the state move people and equipment. If your road is still under water, start with your county emergency management office.
