Food safety

Cook shrimp to 145°F or until opaque and firm. Keep raw seafood cold until cooking and use a separate cutting board and plate for raw shrimp. Rinse parsley under running water before chopping, and chill leftovers within 2 hours (1 hour if above 90°F).

Allergens: shellfish, milk

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • spatula
  • knife
  • cutting board

Ingredients (for 4 servings)

  • 1.5 pounds raw Florida shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. 1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook about 30 seconds until fragrant — do not brown.

  3. 3. Add the shrimp in a single layer as much as possible. Cook 2 to 3 minutes per side until opaque and firm.

  4. 4. Seafood should reach 145°F internal temperature, or shrimp should be opaque and firm throughout.

  5. 5. Splash in the lemon juice, sprinkle with parsley, toss, and serve right away.

  6. 6. Chill leftovers within 2 hours (1 hour if the room is above 90°F).
