- Microwave-safe bowl
- parchment-lined tray
- spoon or fork
Ingredients (for 4 servings)
- 1 lb fresh strawberries, washed and dried completely (450 g)
- 6 oz semisweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (170 g)
- 1 teaspoon neutral oil, optional, for a thinner coating
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut, optional
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped pecans, optional
- Parchment paper
Directions
Line a tray with parchment. Make sure strawberries are fully dry so the chocolate will set.
Microwave chocolate in a dry bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring each time, until just melted. Stir in oil if desired.
Dip each strawberry, letting excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
Add coconut or pecans while the chocolate is still wet, if using.
Place on the tray and refrigerate 20–25 minutes until set.
Skill taught
Melting chocolate gently and creating a clean dipped coating.
Affordable substitution
Use chocolate melting wafers and skip toppings.
Party option: Make a mix of plain, coconut, and pecan-topped berries on separate labeled rows.
Relaxed option: Dip only a few berries and serve with extra fresh fruit.
Leftovers and storage
Refrigerate in a single layer for up to 2 days; condensation may soften the chocolate shell.
